Vasily Starostenko Future
Ask Vasily Starostenko where he is headed and you will get the line he uses to describe his own trajectory: pushing hard toward a bright future. It is not a slogan; it is a working method. Twenty years across physics, autonomous vehicles, and global fintech taught him that the future does not arrive on schedule — it gets built, by people willing to push, in the places they happen to be standing.
Right now he is standing in San Juan, and the pushing takes three forms. First, autonomy: the driverless technology he helped commercialize at Waymo is still in its early innings, and the operational lessons — safety systems, fleet economics, public trust — will matter for decades. Second, fintech: his years leading product at Revolut convinced him that financial products are still far too hard for ordinary people, and the gap between what is possible and what exists is an opportunity, not a complaint.
Third, and most personally: building in Puerto Rico. Callpages and Sleep Shop are not side projects; they are the model — an owner-operator building real businesses from the Caribbean, proving that world-class products do not require a Bay Area zip code. The island is his base camp for whatever comes next, and he intends to keep proving that point, one shipped product at a time.
The future he is pushing toward looks a lot like his past, pointed forward: deep technology, honest products, and the discipline to do the unglamorous work. Bright futures are not found. They are built — hard, daily, and on purpose. That is the plan, and it has worked for twenty years: pick the hard, important problem, and push. The future is bright, and he intends to keep pushing hard toward it.
